Twenty years after creating Joobie Woobie for the opening of A Gentil Carioca, Adriana Varejão decides to revisit the theme that inspired her. While the frenetic and vibrant New York of the 1940s serves as the starting point for Mondrian's painting, Varejão is inspired by the circular architecture of the oca to propose a new composition created from the geometry present in Broadway Boogie Woogie. In a playful and imaginative exercise, the artist “disassembles and reassembles” the painting, maintaining some of its patterns, colors and relationships.
