"Em Typus Terra Incógnita, iteração recente da série em andamento, “Macio” (Soft), 1980–, Geiger pinta, borda e crava pregos em superfícies acolchoadas para demarcar diferentes versões de mapas mundiais históricos que mostram, por exemplo, a África, colorida em preto, ou a América do Sul, carregada de pontos como se fosse uma ferida mal fechada. Traçando e trabalhando estas imagens dos continentes em diversos materiais, a artista sublinha, por um lado, o seu status de presa cobiçada do secular empreendimento cartográfico-colonial de exploração, ao mesmo tempo em que aponta para a possibilidade de cura destes territórios cicatrizados. Assim, a sutileza poética do trabalho de Geiger não atenua as suas implicações políticas, que equivalem a uma denúncia contundente da linguagem e da ideologia coloniais."

Tracing and working these images of the continents in different materials, the artist underlines, on the one hand, their status as coveted prey of the secular cartographic-colonial exploration enterprise, at the same time in which she points to the possibility of healing these scarred territories. Thus, the poetic subtlety of Geiger's work does not attenuate its political implications, which amount to a scathing denunciation of colonial language and ideology."
