Maria Nepomuceno presents her new group of works, “Gira”. Memories of a poetic and personal imaginary become raw material with which the artist accesses her own origins, bringing ancestral materials and symbols as mantras in ways that are repeated and materialized in the works. Elements such as the braided straw make reference to the umbilical cord - a connector of generations that perpetuates life cycles and materializes in spirals in Maria's creations. The works are living organisms that make up an invented nature, suggesting an idea of circularity, movement and constant expansion. The liveliness and dynamism of her studio, in the roots of Santa Teresa, become a fundamental part of her work. Objects from her creative environment are incorporated into the sculptures and re-signified as beings that inhabit universes without end or beginning. The experience of occupying the atmosphere of the works generates the sensation of infinitude and points to an exponential growth of these organisms that, due to an impulse of life, seem to take over the entirety of the space.
