Laura Lima presents Desejo, a work in which the artist offers the observation of her drawings to the space. The task is made by an astronaut on a space base orbiting the earth. The public, who is on earth, can witness the work intermediated by technology, the piece takes the form of an experimental articulation intercrossed with expanded times and spaces, since the images are transposed beyond the planet earth and come into contact with other galaxies, on an interplanetary artistic mission.

Desejo is an idea that appeared at the beginning of 2019, when I wanted some of my drawings to be seen by the universe, by outer space itself and by other celestial bodies, such as a transmission where the drawings sent were pointed at this great darkness which, trivially, we know as the great “nothing” - that sum of space and time formed of intergalactic matter around us - and for that they would need to be in the hands of astronauts who work on floating bases, beyond the limits of the earth's atmosphere.
-
It is common in space stations to have cameras transmiting, in real time, the routine of these space travelers to websites of big companies that explore space, such as the north american Nasa, through the NASA ISS Live Stream - Earth From Space page:

Those cameras, therefore, would be our eyes, from the earth, and could witness and transmit the event remotely, where the sharing of 37 drawings, created in black ink on A4 paper, sent via web to the spacecraft, printed (or showed on a screen) by the astronauts and with my instructions are displayed for the void of the space stratosphere, which would observe such symbols, unknown untill then, without the presence of an audience.

below I leave some references of other works that dialogue with the proposal:

Brazilian artist, lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. Living beings and architecture are some of the integral elements of Laura Lima's work, which includes in her craft as an artist the vital praxis of the time of experience and philosophical making, ranging means - from hand embroidery to activist organizations and open calls - , and using technical tools that expose a powerful contrast to your visual references. Transforming the space into a wide kinetic installation, in which the experience of the viewer within the built environment is central to the meaning of the work, is an example of a presentation created by Laura. From moving beings and daily signs, the work developed by the artist can be apprehended when in relation to a sui generis glossary created by the author. The use of living matters provokes tensions and changes, her installations often check and question the juxtaposition of solid or empty bodies that deliberate disturbances and dystopias. Games of scale and balance between the behavior of the landscape, objects, people, animals and other living things are significant exercises in the artist's repertoire, which deals with sculpture as an apparatus of care for the volumes of life in its multiple layers. In Laura´s works, body is not performance, it is equivalent to architecture, landscape, experience and becomes an image. Man = flesh / Woman = flesh is a crossed territory. Going deeper into the whole of Laura Lima's works is to notice the hybrid body and the weaving of rope, thread, coal and life. Work is desire and fear of seeing the obscure side of life.
