Since 2005, the gallery inaugurates its annual exhibition calendar with Abre Alas, a group show that was born with the aim of opening space for new artists. This year, with the São Paulo headquarters just over 2 years old, and now with its expansion, A Gentil Carioca takes the opportunity of this space to bring new works by the artists Rose Afefé, Yanaki Herrera and Newton Santanna, participants of the 18th edition of Abre Alas, in 2023. The three exhibitions open on August 26, 2023 and will run until September 23, 2023.
In 2018 she started to develop the Terra Afefé project, rescuing memories of her childhood in the interior of Bahia for the field of art and life. The work deals with the construction of a microcity, proposes experiences and artistic immersions in an integrated way, which aim at themes that contribute to racial, gender, social and ecological guidelines. She was awarded with the 2023 Foco prize - ArtRio and awarded at the Salão de Artes Visuais da Bahia in 2012. Rose also participated in the artistic residency Walls: Shared Territories, in Fortaleza - CE.
