[Taking opular architecture as her primordial reference, Agrade Camíz brings the balance of living in a collective by presenting in her painting micro records of existence and re-existence. Her research thinks of housing as occupation - marking presence in the territory. Therefore, “Habitacional” is the desire for the possible place, in the material field or not; it is the return of the non-place to my-place. Camíz processes her work moving towards abstraction. In “Cheat Retreat”, the artist is inspired by gentrification, the masses and how we inhabit certain spaces - the needs of escape and retreat. The painting is thought from the perspective of crowded urban beaches, seas of people - how bodies mix with the landscape itself, transform and become the environment. The diamond shapes, present in the first "Habitacional" painting of 2019, return, bringing the house to the beach, as well as the eruption in red, also present in other works. For the artist, the canvas erupts when there is a need for a breath from the theme, or just from the painting itself. In the case of “Cheat Retreat”, the eruption operates as a double interruption– it is a breach of air in a painting dominated by yellow and by a crowding of the very theme that inspires it: “urban beaches are like a “fake oasis“.]
