“Material girl” é uma obra fotográfica que identifica a paisagem suburbana entrecruzada em suas multiplas ambiências. Ajoelhada sobre uma pilha de escombros, Aleta Valente se posiciona no topo da montanha de restos de materiais de obra em um autorretrato. A fotografia produz um diálogo com a cultural pop – da música e da dança – e através da expressão que dá título a obra, ironiza o jogo de palavras e questiona a construção de um estereótipo feminino onde os corpos são materiais para diversos usos.

“Material girl” is a photographic work that identifies the suburban landscape intercrossed in its multiple environments. Kneeling on a pile of rubbish, Aleta Valente positions herself on top of a mountain made of wastes of construction materials in a self-portrait. The photography produces a dialogue with the pop culture – music and dance – and through the expression that gives the work its title, she mock the words and question the construction of a female stereotype where bodies are material for different uses.
