Aleta Valente (Rio de Janeiro, 1986)

Artista brasileira, vive e trabalha no Rio de Janeiro. De produções fotográficas, ao mesmo tempo requintadas e banais, atos improvisados e situações instalativas que preveem a participação do público, seu trabalho se ativa por fissuras entre o campo da arte e da tecnologia e se desdobra em zonas insólitas. Em suas obras - low-res vídeos, memes, SEO, hipertextos e links - a artista opera distintos processos de criação, contrapondo a desproporção do plano geográfico da cidade e alinhando realidades para além de reais e virtuais. Em seus processos artísticos, a arte se torna um mecanismo político onde questiona a massificação e mercantilização dos estereótipos de gênero, autonomia do próprio corpo e a legalização do aborto em interseções que se conectam com a luta por recursos de independência e autonomia da mulher. A cisão da fêmea é a nevralgia das manifestações de Valente, o protesto para a mudança nas estruturas políticas em relação ao corpo feminino é um trabalho elasticamente praticado por ela, que a todo momento tensiona a narrativa da publicização da imagem sensual da mulher, explorada pela sociedade machista capitalista. Com um prato de comida entre as pernas, de ponta a cabeça sobre uma pilha de entulhos ou de peito aberto e coberto de moedas, Aleta investiga a domesticação, a subserviência e a redefinição da mulher. Com um celular em mãos a artista produz, fotografa, edita e distribui imagem e seu discurso mundo afora.

From refined and banal photographic productions, improvised acts and installation situations that provide public participation, the artist work is activated by fissures between the field of art and technology and unfolds in unusual areas. In her works - low-res videos, memes, SEO, hypertexts and links - the artist operates different creative processes, countering the disproportion of the geographic plan of the city and aligning realities beyond real and virtual. In her artistic processes, art becomes a political mechanism where she questions the massification and commodification of gender stereotypes, the autonomy of her own body and the legalization of abortion at intersections that connect with the struggle for resources for women's independence and autonomy. The split of the female is the neuralgia of Valente's manifestations, the protest for the change in political structures in relation to the female body is a work elastically practiced by her, which constantly strains the narrative of the publicization of the sensual image of the woman, explored by capitalist sexist society. With a plate of food between her legs, upside down on a pile of rubbish or with an open chest covered in coins, Aleta investigates the domestication, subservience and redefinition of women. With a cell phone in hand, the artist produces, self-photographs, edits and distributes her image and discourse worldwide.
