Maria Laet (Rio de Janeiro, 1982)

Artista brasileira, vive e trabalha na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Suas obras friccionam dinâmicas sutis com elementos da natureza como ar, tempo, luz e energia, que constituem um glossário único. Com fôlego a artista cria um inventário de escutas e ações que vinculam terra e corpo a experiências atemporais. O diálogo com múltiplas materialidades, o espaço de respiro entre volumes da vida, o hábito, o equilíbrio, a intuição e a fluidez ampliam-se em fotografias, instalações, objetos escultóricos e vídeos, que manifestam no conjunto da obra de Maria uma experiência sensorial singular. Em seus estudos empíricos a artista aponta o oscilar, a liberdade, o gestual e as memórias que se diluem entre silêncios e ruídos, ciclos que curvam um corpo ou alongam camadas de outro. A densidade dos múltiplos espaços da cidade é rearranjada pela artista, que com um manejo efêmero transforma o que toca em costuras e tramas transpassadas por fugacidades e prolongamentos.

Brazilian artist, lives and works in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Her works subtle dynamics with elements of nature such as air, time, light and energy, which constitute a unique glossary. By a deep breath the artist creates an inventory of listens and actions that link earth and body to timeless experiences. The dialogue with multiple materialities, the space of aspiration between the volumes of life, habit, balance, intuition and fluidity are amplified in photographs, installations, sculptural objects and videos, which manifest in the works of Maria a unique sensory experience. In her empirical studies, Maria points out oscillations, the freedom, the gestures and the memories that melt in between silences and noises, cycles that bend one body or stretch layers of another. The density of the multiple city spaces is rearranged by the artist, as with an ephemeral flair transforms what touches into seams and weaves pierced by fugacities and prolongations.
