REVERSOS are paintings made by the artist that begin with an exercise of creating and painting different colors on the front and back of strips of paper, proceeding to compose, with these colored strips, two planes - one with the strips positioned horizontally and the other with the strips positioned vertically. The planes alternate in the superpositions that build the plot of each work. At the junction of these two colored planes, unexpected drawings and fields of force appear between the colors. The other side of the plot leads to yet another experiment in this process, in which a different and random composition takes place, outside the foreseen and prior aesthetic control of the artist. For Jarbas Lopes, the present compatibility of the two sides in the work refers to a third dimension for painting.
