Em 1881, no pé do vulcão Cayambe, em Quito, Equador, nasceu Dolores Cacuango. Um pouco menos de duas décadas depois e nesse mesmo povoado, nasceu Tránsito Amaguaña. As duas foram se encontrar na luta pelo direito da mulher (Alianza Femenina Ecuatoriana) e o direto à terra, fundaram a Federação Equatoriana de Índios organizando em paralelo o Partido Socialista Equatoriano, na luta pela implementação de um sistema cooperativista no campo. O vulcão Cayambé está extinto há alguns séculos porém na pintura ele está em atividade, na intenção de trazer o calor da memória dessas duas lideranças equatorianas enquanto força da natureza.


In 1881, at the foot of the Cayambe volcano in Quito, Ecuador, Dolores Cacuango was born. A little less than two decades later at that same village, was born Tránsito Amaguaña. Both of them meet in the resistance fight for women’s rights (Alianza Femenina Ecuatoriana) and the right to the land, where they founded the Ecuadorian Federation of Indians, organizing in parallel the Ecuadorian Socialist Party, in the struggle for the implementation of a cooperative system in the countryside. The Cayambé volcano has been extinct for a few centuries but in the painting it is active, intended to bring the warmth of the memory of these two Ecuadorian leaders as a force of nature.
