Ao ser apresentada por seu pai a uma antiga fotografia da mulher que seria sua trisavó e sobre quem seus parentes só sabem o primeiro nome, a artista começa a fabular a história de Balbina, a mulher da foto. Desfilando com uma máscara e uma bandeira estampadas com esta fotografia, a artista percorre um trajeto que vai do bairro do Estácio até a Pedra do Sal, bairros do Rio de Janeiro tradicionalmente demarcados pela presença negra, pela gestão matriarcal das tias baianas e de importância substancial para a história e a cultura brasileira.

Upon being introduced by her father to an old photograph of the woman who would have been her great-great-grandmother and about whom her relatives only know the first name, the artist begins to fabulate the story of Balbina, the woman in the photo. Parading with a mask and a flag printed with this photograph, the artist walks along a route that goes from the Estácio neighborhood to Pedra do Sal, neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro traditionally marked by the black presence, by the matriarchal management of the Bahian aunts and of substantial importance to Brazilian history and culture.
